the mrs and I want to get a blu ray player, but times are pretty tight. We want to get a cheap one, but I#m cautious that some cheap stuff is cheap for a reason... so I'm after some advice/recommendations :)

We'd like to spend as little as possible, we have a 720p telly, if that helps. But we do want decent picture. Our current DVD player seems to ghost a lot :( really annoying.

Any suggestions greatfully received :)

Do you use a cheap SCART cable by any chance? SCART cables actually do benefit from good shielding and grounding as well. £3 SCART cable are ****e.

Generally reviews I've seen for the BDP-S360 have been positive but a few I've seen recently have said that it loads slowly, has bad remote control lag and also the layer transitions are quite bad. Can anyone who actually owns one comment please?

I can tell you that all you have heard is utter rubish.
Mine is almost as fast as a PS3 to load, there is NO remote lag and I cant say I have ever noticed a layer change at all.

Thanks for the fast response, sounds good. :)

I was thinking of getting one of these for someone as a Christmas present and the person I have in mind wouldn't be bothering with any BD Live stuff (which seems to be the player's main down point - a lack of WiFi and that dodgy USB port for storage) so it sounds like the best player choice overall so far.

There probbly the best bang for buck player on the market atm.
As you say, the only thing that realy lets it down is lack of Wi-Fi.
Tbh I quite like the USB port for storage as it gives you lots of options, I personaly have a 4Gb PICO drive in mine that is so small it gets lost :D

Starting from tomorrow you can buy the Sony BDP360 Blu-ray Player. Includes Terminator Salvation, Night at the Museum 2, Angels and Demons and Slumdog Millionaire for £149.99 from Blockbuster.

Picking one up I think, good deal.

Just ordered the sony BDPS360 Blu-ray player with slumdog millionaire, terminator salvation and angels and demons for £135.00 with free delivery from play.
