I will be viewing an M reg 1.0L Micra this weekend, MOT due in April, but it had no work required and no advisaries on its last MOT. Also the exhaust was recently replaced. It does have a bump on the front bumper and scratch down drivers window/door (not sure how bad they are but I don't think its anything major)

I have picked up quite a bit on common faults through looking at previous threads, but does anyone have any idea on value?

Thanks,
Andrew.

A 13year old Micra with 2months MOT with shoddy bodywork I would say £200-£300 is a fair price.

I would be very surprised if the sills and subframe (front and rear) were not showing signs of rust (MOT failure) if they have never been done.

Also the fact it had no advisories, nor needed any work at the last MOT test, doesn't mean anything - it may well need a ton of work at this one.

Value maybe £400 tops?

Also would it be a worthwhile change from a poor condition P reg Escort 1.4 that definately needs work for its MOT in June (exhaust has been patched up and is now blowing again, particularly around the lambda sensor).

I'd hazard a guess that the Micra is less likely to go wrong, but there are too many factors involved to say for certain. What is your maximum budget for a new car?

Depends on the actual condition of the Micra, as it is I'd only want to spend about £200-£300 as the MOT is up in 2 months.

Being an M Reg i presume its a K11 (bubble shaped micra) something to watch out for on them is the front crossmember. it is a common problem that they rust badly. My mrs has one on a 99(T) which is spotless.. except for the front cross member which failed its MOT last week. when i got the bumper off, and had a closer look it was absolutely rotten. i had to drill/chisel the spot welds to remove it, then weld the new one in place, so you really need the tools to do it, else a typical garage will charge you £150+ for doing it

Value wise as most people said is probably around £300, chances are the actual value its up for is probably at least double that. Most Micras under £500 are total dogs.

Thanks for all the info so far.

I don't really have any budget. I have the opportunity to buy it for £300 as a replacement for my girlfriends Escort. It belongs to a friend of mine who has just changed to a Corsa.
