Value ram and Value ram

Im thinking of selling my Elixir cas3 2x1gb set and getting some Geil Value instead. They are CL3 aswell.

I realise they are rated the same, and probably perform similarily. However, I would prefer having branded ram rather than generic stuff.
Also the current ram gives me random BSOD when playing CM, which is heavy on the cpu and ram.
Else all is good, no crashing.
The BSOD happens regardless if I have fsb at 220 or 200 running CL2.5.

So what do you guys think? Keep it or get geil? I will be using it in my new rig which has an OPTY 165

Have you isolated the crashing to the RAM? i.e. underclocked the FSB, processor, graphics etc. Does it fail memtest?

What about these sticks: Kingston HyperX 1gb CL 2-3-2-6 PC3200?
Nice timings me thinks. What are they like for overclocking?

never used them but one of my mates brothers has taken his to 280mhz (280x10) which is very nice

yeh, im sure his were hyperX. can you get different types of hyperX as i doubt pc3200 would do what he said. pc4400 on the other hand...

It is nice to have decent reliable ram, so if yours are playing up then there is an advantage in getting a new pair. Can the rest of your rig take an overclock? Perhaps then you will be able to get a nice performance boost out of you new purchase.

Have you tried running them at SPD, bearing in mind that CL2.5 is faster than they are rated for?
