Hi all,
Just about to build a new rig, consisting of mainly second hand 939 based parts and I would like a few things straight before I begin. I've built a few machines before, but have never done SLI before, and I don't wanna screw it up.
- I will be installing 2 XFX 7800GT graphics cards in SLI on a DFI UT SLI-DR. I was just skirting around the forums a moment ago and see that there is a compatibility issue with XFX and nForce4 and it needs a BIOS update. Can anyone give any more info on this?
- As per the above, when I plug in both the gfx cards, which one do I connect the video cable to? (I know, stupid questions)
- Are there any 'special' nVidia display drivers that I need to run SLI or so I just go with the Forceware drivers on the nVidia website?
- Given that I have integrated SP2 onto my Windows installation disk, does this mean I don't need to hit F6 during install?
- If I wanted to download the latest chipset drivers for the DFI UT SLI-DR, do I get them directly from DFI or nVidia? Again, while I've been searching I saw someone say that you should get the chipset drivers from nVidia (they seem to be more up to date than the ones on the DFI site) and only use the DFI site for the Marvel LAN drivers. Is this correct?
- I am going to be putting in an Opteron 146 chip in this machine, what should the default settings be in the BIOS?
Thanks for looking
