VAT + Competitor

I ordered some stuff from a competitor the other day but i'm now in the process of RMA'ing it. However i noticed that they calculate the VAT on things after shipping :confused:

The thing i bought was £25 without VAT, shipping was £4.95 THEN they added the VAT :eek:

Are they allowed to do this? It's only a small amount extra (about 86p or something) but if they do it to every order they'd make a fair bit :eek:

Yeah just noticed that. Surely it's not a service they provide themselves so they don't need to charge VAT on it as it's included in the price the courier would charge?
