Vauxhall C20LET

That Tigra would be even better if the intercooler had some proper ducting and a bit more thought went into that airfilter positioning.

In that pod run it looks like my Insight!

... even down to the pink viper stripes :p

That said, the Tigra prob has a decent aero Cd over the other cars suggested.

I can't think of anything worse than owning a stupidly fast bean can like a Nova or Corsa, if you're going to spend money on modifying a car do a decent one - Nissan 200SX, Honda CRX, etc. A Type R powered CRX is seriously quick...

Fastest modified crapbox i've seen was an old Polo with a charged VR6 engine in it...insane straight line speed

I drive a Vauxhall, don't start the snobbery game. I'm just saying they're awful cars, why bother spending so much money on them, save up a little more and buy something that won't break every 100 miles.

That's part of the reason he's using a Tigra, because it isn't a good car. It amazes me how some people can't get their heads around such a simple idea.

I'm guessing you know little about drag cars? They're not built to do distance, they're built to be fast over 1/4 mile. It's common practice to stip and engine after a race meet or after a few test sessions. Even your 'proper' cars are treated the same, if not moreso as the LET is a good reliable engine when built well.

I bet you think people who race mini's and spend thousands on them are idiots, especailly when you can buy a faster, more reliable car for less money?

And is heavier?

And is heavier?

Weight does play a big part in the whole drag stip process. Being FWD has it's own problems too. A good deal of weight has been removed however it has a full roll cage which isn't light.

Still remains that 11.27 seconds down the strip isn't bad for a shonkey Vauxhall on road legal tyres.

Rhyzz makes the point of "why choose a crap car like the tigra that will break down"

to which i have to say

"how much of what is left is actually a tigra. I think its just the chassis isnt it ? :D"

and a chassis cant break down, it can only rot. Which it wont if well looked after.

ill put that into perespective. everyone has seen that veilside supra vs mclaren f1 vid?

well the mclaren does the 1/4 in 11.1. the vauxhall is a 10th off and on road tyres and is fwd... that is an epic achievment

Is that like being top of the class at special school?

if it was, youd still be pretty much top of close to the top of any school. im amazed at some of the times they were getting

That really is quite a pathetic comment Fox.

The engineering which has gone into the project is of a very high standard, especially when you compare the LET engine to that of the Ford Cosworth, which are used in several application.

Everything bar the shell has be upgraded or redesigned with many parts being one off's.

Hating Vauxhalls is one thing, however for someone who's so 'car savvy' I thought you'd appreciate the technical side and not make a typical anti Vauxhall comment.

Because even though everyone on OCUK seems to think they do, Vauxhalls do not break down every 100 miles. Infact my dad's old J reg astra done not far off 200k before the chassis started cracking.

With no rust and not ever needing towed.

Mines lasted 6 weeks before being towed, altough it did collide with a lampost :p

I've seen numerous of these 2.0 C20 conversions and only 1 of them was ever any good, and for the same money spent on the car he could have bought an Evo 6. I appreciate the fact that the idea is to make it go stupidly fast in a straight line, but quarter mile drag races are for muppets who think a 0-60 time makes a car fast. I just don't see the point - my opinion, nothing more.
