Vauxhall Corsa C problems!

Hey guys,

So I have finally been able to get out and have a look at the car. We basically took off the large rubber pipe with the two bolts. This then revealed the butterfly which we cleaned using a clean paint brush and brake fluid. Is this correct?

Here is the outcome:

With regards to the EGR valve I am still having trouble locating this. I have a couple of pictures which I hope you guys can tell me if it is actually there anywhere?

This picture is what I think it is more likely to be:

Just cleaning the ICV should do it, use the carb cleaner to clean the accelerator cable aswell, should sort it out.

I had this with my old corsa, and it was perfect.

That's a water housing in the picture. What year is this car? I don't think this model has an EGR valve fitted. A 54 plate one I looked at a few weeks ago didn't anyway.

The big hole on top is where a solenoid should be that opens and shuts the EGR valve. It has likely been removed as without the solenoid the valve will always remain shut.
Some corsas did not come with the solenoid fitted but had the pipework and other parts. This is most likely the case with yours unless it has been removed at a later date.

Is there any obvious not connected plugs around that area ?

This is the EGR from a 2004 1.0 or 1.2 petrol... The Big silver bit on top with the black plug is the solenoid.

Thanks for the response. Where does this leave me then? Is it a problem? Or nothing to worry about?

Cheers :)

EDIT: Not sure about that will need to check, should I be looking in that area? Or anywhere?

Also I assume you mean electrical?

If there are no obvious plugs not connected it is likely it was never connected. Usually the ones I have seen that have either been disabled or never fitted have a blanking plate fitted over them holes.
The solenoid (If fitted) works against a sprung valve that at the right tempertature and RPM re-circulates exhaust gas through the EGR and back in to the inlet. The EGR is water cooled by the engine coolant system.
If the solenoid is missing the valve will remain shut under spring tension.

Tbh if there are no fault lights and no other issues I would say that the EGR was never fitted or has been removed and decoded from the ECU at some point.

Do you still have the problem after cleaning the throttle body ?
