Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer

I’m sure my local Vauxhall where offering the new Insignia 1.5T on lease for something ridiculous like 1.5k down and £180 p/m. They had it up on a big stand outside with yellow advertising stickers all over it. Looked real classy :D
Having seen a few on the road I have to say my opinion is divided. Seen a top spec in black and it looked fantastic almost like a BMW 6 series from the back but then I have seen a few poverty spec models in white and silver and they looked really cheap riding on what looks like 12 inch casters.
Wouldn’t like the thought of paying for 4 Premium 20 inch tyres on a run of the mill Insignia either

So I got around to test driving the AWD Elite Nav last weekend. I liked it, powerful enough, packed full of gadgets, big and roomy, nice looking interior etc.

Definitely interested in getting one of these but have recently found out there is an incoming GSI version which is set to be superior to the current top spec Elite Nav.

Unfortunately there's nothing definitive available on the web, just a "concept" page on the official Vauxhall site along with a few online speculative articles.

Got in touch with Vauxhall online support and they cannot provide any information other than it will hit the showrooms in March, likewise I got no information from the dealer trying to sell me a car. Guess I'll just have to wait.

Full press release: http://media.gm.com/media/gb/en/vau...2017/vauxhall/12-05-insignia-gsi-pricing.html

Price guide has all the spec and price info: https://www.vauxhallfleet.co.uk/historicaldata/json/getdocument/doc-id/2000

Order banks should be open now I think.

Hope that helps :)

More like what’s going on with the price  from 33k for a bloody Vauxhall Insignia  if it was some kind of 300+bhp VXR then maybe but that is ridiculous for a non performance model

Thanks Joe T will look into those links thanks.

Dav4 (and all) - Any suggestions on any brand new alternatives that have similar performance, size and gadgetry? I’ve been looking for an AWD Petrol estate, packed full of gadgets and relatively powerful (approx 250BHP +) and this seems to be the best for the money. Not asking this in a confrontational way, seeking ideas as I’m looking around.

Thanks

What about a Skoda Superb? They're available in AWD with the 280hp 2.0 TSI petrol engine.

This is just reality now - a superb 280 L+K has a £36k list price (which ok is a bit bigger but far closer to an insignia than an Octavia), top rung Mondeos before the Vignale are £30k+ too. If they all come with continual silly discounts that puts a bit of a different spin on it mind you

I did actually look at the Skoda as an option. Pricing up an equal spec though takes you above £40k! Not looked into seeing if there are any amazing deals around though as I'm assuming they'll still not come down close to the Insignia and I prefer the look / tech of the Vauxhall.

Fox raised a good point, CO2 figures look pretty high.... Good job it's a flat rate these days.

Brokers will currently get you about £2.5k off the gsi - which seems pretty low for a vauxhall in all honesty but I suppose it's a new trim level of what is still a recent model

Don't forget that co2 emissions are proportional to fuel consumption making that a very thirsty 2 litre diesel!

It's about 50g/km higher than mine which has 50% more engine capacity and 50bhp more!

You're right there. I've largely ignored the MPG figures as I won't be racking up heavy mileage (and my other car is a 370Z so used to low figures) but you've put it into context there as it looks relatively inefficient. More to think about!

I believe the Insignia was engineered for the next generation of real world tests rather than the current nonsense tests.

Normally the urban figure is pretty representative of real world performance, however for my 2.0 170 manual I achieved 49 vs the urban figure of 42. I was not that far off the combined figure of 54.

That suggests you should achieve high 30s to 40 from the 2.0 210 auto AWD.

Thanks Joe T and for the info you linked the other day.

Do you work for Vauxhall? Is ask as I’ve spoken to 2x main Vauxhall dealers now and neither knew anything about the GSI, neither did web chat. You’ve provided the best info to date. Seems a strange position to be in to be chasing the dealer after a test drive rather than the other way around!

I currently drive a Mazda 6. If the imminent 2018 refresh had a more powerful engine with AWD and a tech overhaul I'd no doubt go for one as they're more competitively priced.

Unfortunately though it doesn't look like any of that is going to happen according to the currently available press releases.

It's looking like I'm sold here.
