Last one from me and a little thread update.
Vauxhall wouldn't accept liability for the manufacturing fault and told me the cost to fix the damaged seam would be £1350. I ran some sealant down where the roof gully joins the glass roof and it seems to fixed it. Put the roof rail back on and you can't see anything but I've admitted defeat and have part X'd the car and pick my new car up next week.
In this day and age i just can't believe how bad Vauxhall customer service actually is. From their rude operators on the phone to their don't care attitude. I will never buy another Vauxhall again, shame, because i loved my Meriva ...
