Same re the Omega, but soooo many of them seemed to be ex-police cars when I looked more into actually buying one

Sorry, I should comment on the main question!
I’ve always seen Vauxhall as an unreliable and less capable version of what Ford are offering.
Why buy a Corsa over a Fiesta?
Why buy an Astra over a Focus?
Why buy an Insignia over a Mondeo?
They just don’t logically make any sense to me…

Not sure it's relevent to current Vauxhalls, but my 08 Astra has almost 215,000 on the clock. I've been a fairly neglectful owner, and I suspect the last owner wasn't much better. It's been mostly reliable, and the running costs have been virtually non existent.
And to be fair, it's a thourghly horrible car. The plastic is extra plasticy and the sound deadening is almost no existent. The seats are awful and it's possibley the least stylish car I've ever owned, which is really saying something, I used to drive a Chysler Neon.

I think this is connected to the ride comfort I was trying to explain before - it isn't just about the suspension being hard or firm, but the way in for example my parent's old Zafira as a passenger you'd be experiencing a lot more vibrations and stresses from the road leaving you feeling more worn down by the same journey compared to other cars my parents owned.
VXRs always seem to be driven by complete planks these days, especially the Corsa.
Kia probably the better option.

The VXR8 always made me moist, someone on here had a black one until fairly recently! They sound glorious!

Thought VXRs were always a bit of a chavvy choice
I never liked the way Vauxhalls steered. They always felt over-assisted compared to the Fords.

I’ve never owned a Vauxhall nor ever plan to but as an 18/19 year old in college/uni my best mate went straight to work and that meant company cars and we would go gallivanting around the country. Usually my friend paid more to upgrade his car, so usually this meant Vectra SRI/GSI/CDX - All 2.5/2.6 V6 variants and at the time, they were considered quick. We lived in SE London but would ‘pop’ to Cornwall/Midlands/Scotland on a joyride every Friday night.

I spent almost 20 years driving Vauxhalls - they’re what my dad had while I was growing up, and his dad before that so it was a natural progression.
I had five Vectra B’s, two C’s, two Signums and an Insignia.
The were all various ages, engines and models - the 3.0 diesel Signum was probably the worst for reliability as it had some fuelling problem the garage could never fix, but I suspect it was related to the fact it didn’t have a tank pump and relied purely and suction. Along with needing 7 litres of oil and a specialist tool to undo the filter, the Isuzu engine was not worth the hassle for its 185 bhp…
The Insignia I bought as a factory order with Forces discount, 0% finance with no deposit and 100k lifetime warranty - kept that for 9 years and did 113k miles before chopping it in for an E Class and except for a few minor electrical niggles with the electric seat early on it was absolutely faultless. The engine was Fiat, so by this point what even is a Vauxhall any more anyway…?
