Yay Vauxhalls are great aren't they :(

Wife's Zafira now can't open the back doors because the wiring loom to the rear doors is too short and rubs every time you open the door causing the wires to eventually break, great for a 55 reg car apparently lucky didn't cause a fire.

Great for the wife when she can't get the kids out of the car

I did like the thing but the list gets ever bigger

  • Stupid aero handbrake fell apart
  • Top cover of engine come loose
  • Boot doesn't open in frost
  • A/C is not working
  • Steering wheel controls don't work
  • I have a box of plastic trim items that now don't like to be one with the car
  • Drivers window only opens 3/4 freely then just jams up
  • Now the rear doors won't open

Rant over, that's my Saturday sorted out soldering new wires :(

A guy on a forum I frequent has a Meriva that did this on his driveway recently.

The car was just sitting there, locked, alarmed.

Noice!

i've experienced vauxhall build quality first hand

Just need to wait for the Vauxhall Fans to turn up and say theres nothing wrong with them and they're no worse than any other manufacturer etc..

had no problems with the ones i had to drive through work and i was usually doing 250 mile trips. much preferred them to similarly priced and specced mondeos/passatts/avensis atleast.

Lol vauxhall, indeed my mums astra is truly horrible, of course being a women she said she didnt like the focus as it's to "common" and the astra isn't.:p Ah well.

People say similar stuff about Peugeot, I've had my 307 6 years now and never had any real problems!

you dont drive a vauxhall anymore.

You drive a Holden with Vauxhall badges stuck on it. Theres no need for loyalty now son :p

To be fair the adored my VXR Astra, I drove the competition and for me it was exactly what I wanted, too powerful for it's own good, great looking and a bit of an underdog. That gave it charm to me. Now I know the past vauxhalls in non VXR trim are lame but the new models are leaps and bounds better than they used to be.

Ha, I talked a colleague out of even looking at a Pug 307 that's for sale on the pinboard at work. Told him they're a heap of **** with hideous electrics. That, and it was for sale for €8000 for a 6 year old one. That was my good deed for the day I think :D

I think you've seen for yourself first hand were corners are cut thought havent you ?

Even on the VXRs ?

Of course yes but still they were only £17,000 new and over the 2 years I had it I've never smiled so much when driving a car. Saying that though there was no excuse to use a gearbox that was right on the limit even in a standard car.

And you couldnt give it away at 4 years old.

Not privately no but still I part ex'd it for £8400 and thats with 2 kurbed wheels, a bonnet that was slowly turning white from stone chips, only 1 months tax and the main service due that month.

I would never justify that it is a good car, its ok and thats about it!
However there is only 1 electrical problem with my car, and that is something to do with the blower.
Works on speed 1,3,4 but not 2. A minor inconvenience.

That seems frightfully expensive, that was a bit less than what mine cost 6 years ago! That can't be right.

But I salute you on your good deed! :D

You know I don't think theres ever been a vauxhall in the family, and my dad used to have plenty of random company cars. At least they generally look decent, the old Vectra and the newer Astras aren't hideous. I know a lot of people with old Corsas who've had they're coolant tank basically explode everywhere though.

Mum has a 58 corsa hire car while her Smart is replaced. It's a 1.2 petrol auto. It's awful, and that's not even from driving.

The seats are just... chronic.
