Have any of you used ImpEx (vBulletins import/export tool)? I'm attempting to convert my database from SMF to vB which should be a relatively simple process but I'm a bit confuzzled. :o

The documentation seems only half complete and has statements such as;

official documentation said:
When uploading ImpEx...
But doesn't actually say where to upload it to. :/

The ACP; unless it's majorly changed in the past few releases Invision Power Board is leaps and bounds ahead in usablility.

I don't have a lot of experience with Invision. I tried it a few years ago but I think I pretty much just installed it, decided I didn't like it and then deleted it.

vB's acp seems perfectly fine to me. Certainly one of the better ones I've used.

Any of you vB admins know how to change the quick reply settings?

By default you have to click a link on a post in order to 'activate' the quick reply box each time you use it.

What I want is for it to be like it is on OcUK, where you just type and hit post.

The setting you want is under Message Posting and Editing Options

It says:

"When Quick Reply is enabled, you may specify whether or not users must click the Quick Reply icon in order to start typing in the Quick Reply editor."

Select the option where it says: Yes, Click Not Required

Scroll to the bottom and hit save changes :D

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you need to go into Forum Manager under Forums & Moderators

That will list you forums...Click Edit Forum on your sub-forum...Scroll down to the bit that says Posting Options.

I think the bit that says Act as Forum (Will act as category if no) is what you want.

Select NO and save changes.

Not sure if this is right but worth a try :)

I know the following...

-turn off wysiwyg post editor

Message Posting & Interface Options.
To adjust these changes to all users who are already registered (the default will be with WYSIWYG) go to Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query, and choose the "Show Standard Editor Toolbar" from the list, then execute it :)

- stop the forums sending out birthday emails to members (or edit the messege it sends)

To edit message: Languages & Phrases -> Phrase Manager -> Phrase Type = Email Body Text -> birthday is about the 5th down.
