Hi Andy

EIST/C1 (Intel Speed Step) in the Bios

As you are using 4x1 modules you will need to increase the NB to 1.55v. The 4x1 adds more stain to the NB chip (memory controller) than 2x1.

Speedstep is the powersaving feature. It will drop the multiplier and voltage at idle.

sorry cy forgot to paste this in.EIST/C1 (Intel Speed Step) in the Bios what is this.andy

Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology it reduces power consumption by lowering the multi when idle + voltage. You can re-enable when you have finished OC.

Users (OC) disable so the full multi + V is enabled.

Hence when using CPUID (CPUZ) the full OC is visable.

Disable it while you are over clocking, it can also sometimes cause instability when OC when enabled

Edit ^ cobs post.

thanks guys done all that now.only way i can get it stable now is to have my vcore at 5.5,but then my temps hit 71.so is this as far as i can go with this.

just starting again cy for some reason this bugger wont run at all if i try 1333 tryed 8 9 and 10. so am i better off keeping multiplier down or dont it matter.

If you are hitting that FSB wall on 8,9,10 x at that given FSB. It may be due to a FSB hole. Try jumping the FSB hole by 30-50Mhz increments on the FSB.

Hi Andy

No problem glad to hear you got pass the FSB Hole. See how far you can take the FSB on the x8. When you top out reduce the FSB by 10Mhz increments until you are able to boot into windows. Run prime for stability for approx 1 hour. Then move on to the x9 multi. As you have an extreme you have the run of the play ground. Your temps over all will be the major factor.

Save all your OC to your OC profile.
