vcr to dvd/hd

I've got some old video tapes that I need transferring to DVD but I've no idea on the best way to do this? They are old school theatre productions that my mum wants to keep and she has tasked me to sort it out.

What would be the best way to transfer these to the PC?

The easiest way is really to use a VCR/DVDR combo machine, that lets you play the VHS source and record onto (blank) DVD media or HDD, if you only have a small number of VHS tapes buying one would be a waste of money, so best to "borrow" one, or failing the VHS/DVDR combo, you could try This......
