Vectra VXR

Audi S4 for the same money gets you a much older model. that and the fact the S4 just didnt feel that special put me off.

 I've just had a quick look and you can easily get 2003/2004 models for £11k with avg. mileage. And considering he's looking at a 2007 model means it's only 3 or 4 years older? Not exactly ancient.

But can't comment on the "special" factor as i've never driven one :(

i put this down to the seats

the recaros in the VXR hug you so much more than the recaros in the ST220. They give you so much confidence when leaning into them during heavy cornering.

Plus its the little touches like the red dials etc.. The way they sweep on startup is lush.

You planning on comming to the RR ? im brining mine along with full straight throug milltek exhaust. Gets fitted next week and apparently it makes the V6 exhaust note even more audible in the cabin. Cant wait.

Also, the dash looks so much better blue :D

Yeah you're probably right - It'd be good if I could get a ride, I'd like to see what it can do, I've learnt my lesson from trying to push cars I don't know :o

and yeah ooks MUCH better than the VX Yellow

Since it seems you're after a hot saloon, have you considered an Audi S4 (V8 powah :D) or Impreza of some kind?

Nooo they're both out - the scoobs a fortune to insure and the Audi's a bit Vorsprung Dull Technik tbh!

Know much?
The odd thing, yes. Have some  too.

Have a read of the latest evo. Front wheel drive isnt as bad as people make out.

I know how capable the standard VXR is. And I've got nothing against FWD vehicles. You can't honestly say with a straight face though that 300bhp and 400 lb-ft of torque through the front wheels of a big car like that isn't going to be a handful when pressing on though, can you?

Seems like the ideal car to barter for. High powered Vauxhall Vectra's cannot be selling very well atm. I'd say you've got a budget of £10k and play hard ball for a few weeks, popping in there.

Knocking £2.5k off seems silly but it's going to be super hard to sell quick so sooner or later the depreciation is going to eat away at the value and it won't even be worth the £10k.

I liked the one I drove on the VXR day. Yes it was understeery round the bends but then after driving the Corsa all day (was my fave of the day) it was bound to be. However the punch the engine had was good fun and easily made up for the slower cornering ;)

Also spent the day throwing a silly fast car around. A Group N Evo round a forest to be exact, now that was stomach churning fast, made my Clio feel like a 1.2 when I got back into it :(. Hate that.

Ive never driven a VXR, but for some reason im more likely to try one over a ST220 as much as Im sure the ST220 is a better car overall, i reckon the VXR would be more amusing.

Many family sports cars have been FWD no problems!
Vauxhall VXR
Ford Focus ST & RS
Civic Type R

Please read what I posted. I'm commenting on the massive power and torque increase, not the fact that a performance car is FWD.

it is a handfull

and you know what, its hilarious. You'll just grin from ear to ear, especially if you do so with the windows open :D

If your going to head up into somewhere like dartmore, or the yorkshire dales, and attack the corners as fast as you dare, then the vectra isnt the car for you.

If you want to have fun driving around on a big crest of torque, laughing your head off to a great V6 engine note, then the VXR is the car for you.

I'd still rather have the M3 :(

shame they never did an e46 M3 saloon :(

How can it possibly be that expensive? I know its daft, it was twice the insurance for the 530i, but that was £1k versus £2k at 22...
