Vegas!

Love Vegas, going back for trip #4 in May:

21st-26th in Mandalay Bay (5 nights, Strip View, to acclimatise and chill out)
26th-28th in San Francisco (short flight away)
28th-4th in The Mirage (7 nights inc. memorial weekend, really going for it this week! Tickets to see DJ Tiesto on the Saturday night at The Joint already booked :D)

The Mandalay Bay room was booked in December for $1,050 (strip view, 5 nights), it has since fallen twice, first to $720 and now to $650. I rebooked both times, so make sure you have a fully refundable deposit.

Agree with Rotty, flights are horrendous. Went to the Stratosphere in September 2009, flights via Texas and accomodation went as low as £398 6 months before we went  We just paid £680 in December '10 to fly in May '11, although at leasts that's direct with Virgin.

Vegas > * :)

Incidentally there are four of us going; we got drunk, watched 'The Hangover' and then booked some hotels. Dangerous film for a Vegas fan :D

Also

Yeh I am a bit worried that 5 nights might be too much, but Ive had lots of conflicting advice. I guess we won't know until we've been. :)

No chance, especially if you're going when it's hot and like to laze around during the day. I felt like we barely got going after a week last time :)

I have spent 77 nights there so far with more to come this summer and I don't get bored

oh and TI is absoltely fine, I have stayed there twice

Back again for a bit of a thread revival :D

So, change of plans maybe. Considering going over christmas now. Its not based on romance or family, and will basically be a few good mates out there for a laugh. Is this a bad time to go based on this?

For example, what will it be like on Christmas day? Are clubs, casinos and the like open as usual. Whats putting me off is the fact it might be a bit quiet, maybe? Also, it'll be pretty friggin cold, so no boozey pool days. Hmmmm

Basically, I suppose what I'm asking is if it will be business as usual with lots of like minded people :D

Christmas is very quiet but stupidly cheap, having said that I have been a couple of times and thought it was great

NYE is exact oppoiste, packed, stupid prices and full of idiots

most things are open a few shows may close over this period, all casinos are open as normal

What do you think of the cosmopolitan Rotty? I'm staying there for 4 nights in April (+ 1 night in what looks almost certainly to be PH), the reviews look very favourable.

wasn't open last time I was there, apparantly casino is excellent but hotel bit suffering from teething issues and service probs at moment, nothing unusual for a new hotel

Cheers Rotty

So what about the time in between xmas and NYE? Were thinking around the 23rd till the 3rd.. or there abouts

And your right about the price, it looks cheaper than in October

Hello again :D :D

Right, decision is made, and were gonna go in August, basically because we want the sun, combined with lazy ass pool days - so were going on the 3rd and having 8 nights out there

Price wise, were settling on a nice even grand for the booking part, plus god only knows what on spends. So far, we've come across the Hard Rock, and it seems to be ticking the boxes. Anyone got any horror stories about it, or is it a safe bet?

We can go for the Riveria and save about £100 but aren't really too fussed about the saving side of things if 1 hotel is clearly better than another. To be fair, there is a lot of hotels pretty much in the exact same price bracket, but the Hard Rock has a couple of added freebies that seem good, like an invite to there sunday rehab pool party that should be a giggle

So, wise choice??

Thanks

Again :)

...the norm really that I do during any holiday

Relax, drink, go out till the wee hours, relax, drink, go out till the wee hours, and so on and so forth. Its a simple formula but its one that works for me :)

And a week is not a long time at all really

I can see its not for everyone, but folks are different

My gran eloped to Vegas and got married around a year after my grandpa died. Sneaky old so and do didnt even tell any of us she was planning on getting remarried :p

Hard Rock is a very nice place but far too far away from things for my liking, then again the Riviera is a dump

For those planning to go for a week. What do you actually plan to do during that week?

on your first visit you look around the hotels and attractions, go to shows, smart restaurants, clubs if that's your thing, there's so much to see and do

You might find its simply *too* hot for 'lazy ass pool days' in August - consider September or October instead where it'll still be lovely and warm, but not stifling hot heat that keeps you in air conditioning all day.

Going back to Vegas September 5th! Can't wait :D
Only staying in the Excalibur. We stayed there last year in the newer 'Widescreen' rooms, and they were actually very nice! We were pretty suprised.

Only 5 and a half months to wait... :(
