Vegetable thread

I hate boiled/steamed vegetables. I have all my teeth so don't want any of that mushy crap.

Mushy? Just because vegetables are steamed doesn't mean they're mushy, it depends how long you steam them for. It's also the healthiest way to cook them.

I hate boiled/steamed vegetables. I have all my teeth so don't want any of that mushy crap. :p I do them in pan with a bit of olive oil. Crunchy with texture.

And broccoli is easily the best, par potatoes which don't count.

Far better to eat steamed veg as all the goodness doesn't drain away into the water. Also why do you think steamed=mushy? I have all my teeth too as do my children and since I started steaming all our veg they eat far more of them. They ate lots of veg anyway but they really love them now. It does depend how long you cook for but I steam mine for around 15 mins usually and they aren't mushy at all. The baby has his slightly more well done so they're easy for him to eat.

I steam all veg and sometimes potatoes depending on how I'm cooking them, steamed new potatoes with parsley are lovely and just add some butter. I prefer not to add olive oil to veg as it makes them too greasy.

Vegetables grow from the ground, fruits grow on trees and bushes.

Corn? Peas? they grow from plants as opposed to in the ground.

Fruit is defined by containing seeds, all of the melon/squash family, including courgettes (I forgot) and cucumbers, are technically fruit. This is why tomatoes fall into the same category.
