A colleague has asked me about a 'backplane' version of the Velociraptor drive he has seen elsewhere.
I assume they will still work in a normal PC?
From what I could find it is just the alignment of the connectors?

Thanks
Andrew

P.S Just to clarify, are they 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives?

They are 2.5" drives, but they are non-removeable (Voids the warranty).
There is also a version without the heatsink it comes in. (Make sure you dont buy that one as its for server docking bays)

The backplane version just has the connectors aligned like a standard drive so it fits into icy-docks and similar. The non-backplane is cheaper, and the connectors are non-standard.

In short, mounting in a case, buy the cheaper one. (But not the 2.5" only version without the icepack)
