Ventus V12 Evo?

They should be fine, but I didn't rate them as well as the Vredstein Ultrac Sessantas I had previously. Can you get the S1 Evos? They should be better.

The Sessantas look like a real bargain! Can be had for £110 for my A4, are they really that good?

Sort of, it's very strage, they rock in the dry, very good in the wet, but when the road is slightly damp I found them very slippy.

Could vary car to car I suppose, I'd spend a little more and buy the CS5's or ASY2's both are fantastic in all conditions.

I've had a set of V12's on the Legnum for the last 14 months, and have done 20,000 miles on them, and they're just starting to come towards the point where I'm needing to replace them.

The Legnum is a heavy car (1680kg), and full-time 4WD, and they have also done a track day at Castle Combe, as well as a couple of days at Santa Pod and some hooning around an old airfield.

In other words - they've lasted well, and they have been good in all weather conditions, and the car didn't put a foot wrong through any snow I've driven in.

Obviously - your Passat will be different, the tyres may be awful for your car - but I'm going to be buying myself another set of them for my Legnum. I've also put a pair onto the back of my mum's MX-5, and they work well on that as well.

I've got these on the back of my ST.

I used to have them on the front, but switched them to the back once I bought some new tyres (this was a mistake, the Falken's are terrible). They are really good for the price, but I think the next time I buy tyres they will be Goodyear's.

Again, really depends what car they are on. Oh and they were brilliant in the snow!

I've got 4 on the Clio, they grip well and are quite soft so good for my every day road use. There's definitely better tyres but these were about £60 each from Camskill so couldn't complain!

I've got them on the back of my car and they have been fine in all conditions (apart from snow :p). They've only broken traction when I have intended them to..

I'm sort of about to thread hijack here but I got an unrepairable puncture in my Falken FK452 front nearside yesterday so i'm looking to replace the front tyres.

Size 235/40/17 which gives:

- These for £92.95 each
- Avon ZZ3 for £92.60 each
- Falken FK452 for £84.95 each
- Maxxis MAZ1 for £72.30 each

Plus a few others that I don't think are worth considering (too expensive/too cheap/kumho)

At the moment i'm thinking either these Hankooks or the Avon's. Thoughts?

Good point, Fiesta ST with 17"x8" Compomotive MO5's, hence the unusual tyre size. Quite a light car I guess relatively with not a huge amount of power. The Falkens I have now are pretty rubbish in all but the dry imo.

Similar car to mine, Clio 182, and I have V12s all round at the mo. Good for every day use, probs not the best if you're driving like you stole it.

I've got both the Hankook's and the Falken's on my car, and I can assure you the Hankook's are worth the extra £8 each tyre. The Falken's are by far the worst tyre I've ever had. They are acceptable in dry conditions, but if it damp or wet, then your skills levels will be tested. The Hankook's are not leagues ahead, but I found them better.

But personally I doubt I will ever be going for anything else other than Goodyear F1's from now on. Had them on my old car, and they were absolutely brilliant, and even when worn down to the last few mm, they handled better in the wet than any other tyre I have ever experienced.

I had these on a 306 GTi-6, and they were really quite competent for both every day, and when pushing it.

I also had them on the back of a 200SX, with Conti CS up front - fantastic combo for a bit of drift, the Hankooks had decent progressive breakaway if I recall right!
