Hello chaps,
I believe my Vertex 2 has kicked the bucket and I am after some advice.
So my PC froze last night, could not do a thing except move the mouse cursor. Rebooted, was fine. Today it started happening more often and would eventually blue screen if left long enough.
Long story short, the Vertex 2 has its red and green lights on, I did some research and this pretty much means the drive is knackered. I had not updated the firmware at all since I had it so I did so just now (going from 1.32 to 1.35) using tools and guides on OCZ's support forums. That didn't fix it.
There's another option to "Secure Erase" the drive but looking at everyone else's posts with this problem I have a feeling it will either fix it temporarily or not at all. I'm not even sure I want to RMA it because I'll get one back that'll do the same thing. Should I just look at buying a new one from a different manufacturer?
Timing couldn't be worse because Diablo 3 goes live soon, and I had the week off to play it. I have a spare 250GB drive I could install Windows on... desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say
