I have about 7 60GB Vertex 2E out in various machines.

I have witnessed two failures so far.
The second one has just spazzed out. The first one, was not visible to the BIOS.
This one, is visible but won't boot windows and nothing on the drive is readable.

BOTH of these were in Dell Latitude D630 laptops. Both are mobile quite a lot.
Unsurprisingly, all of the desktop units are fine.

Has anyone else seen these fail in laptops whilst on the move? I accepted the first failure as a one off. Now we have two...

I've 3 in my main rig - RAID 0 all fine.

2 in 1 laptop RAID 0 - all fine

1 in my netbook and thats fine.

All of them are on 1.32 FW if that helps and are the 60GB V2E

I read one report stating OCZ used inferior memory chips but I have no proof / evidence of this. I think the OCZ world has imploded in the past few weeks, sorry to hear of your pain. :(

I've just taken mine back to where i bought it from. Mines in a desktop machine though, it kept BSOD'ing and dissapearing from the bios. There testing it at the moment but as far as im concerned its useless to me the way it is.

Hmmm, I've got a 60GB Vertex 2E in a desktop only about a month old but so far so good. I am on the latest firmware this was the first thing I did after installling windows.

Just popped this drive into a second machine. 55GB unallocated. Looks like it's wiped itself clean.
I am tempted to try and SLC drive next.
