Vertex 3 - not being soon on boot

Built this about a week ago - no problems.

Today was uninstalling/installing TV cards in one of the PCI slots; to find that upon re-booting for the n'th time that the message - boot file missing - came up.

Checked bios to find that the boot bios had 'lost' the vertex drive - re-set and all ok.

But it has now started intermitantly not finding the drive - a simple re-boot appears to solve the problem but not permanantly!!

Any ideas ,please:)

New sata cable/new power cable Did not work.

Booting from cold message is 'Reboot and select proper Boot Device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key'

A quick re-boot, it finds the drive etc no problems..... Am becoming convinced its a motherboard problem but before going down that route:-

a) Anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

b) Just a thought Swapping the sata connection on the board is possible - I have a wd 750 black plugged in at sata 1 at the moment (the vertex is at sata 0) - will swap it and see.

b) Is it possible to do a 'repair' on windows 7? - a direction to a walkthrough would be much appreciated.
