Vertical Ghosting on ViewSonic Gaming Monitor

Hi everyone,

Recently I bought a brand new ViewSonic VX2758-P-MHD 27-inch 1080p 144Hz 1ms TN gaming monitor.

Now if I scroll vertically fast, I can see some annoying ghosting lines:

Same in games too when scrolled quickly:

I tried several PCs, several DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 cables (all certified), different power cords and outlets, and messing around with all OSD settings.

It gets a lot worse if I set the response time to "Ultra Fast", or enable FreeSync/G-Sync, or set a lower refresh rate like 50hz/60hz.

The users' reviews for that monitor are extremely positive on both Amazon and ViewSonic website.

I already tried to RMA that monitor, but their technician claimed it is not defective or anything.

I wonder if anyone else has encountered this kind of problem with ViewSonic monitors. Should I request a refund, or insist on a replacement?

I would enable Freesync/Gsync and keep it at 144HZ, but dial back the response time. The highest response time (overdrive) setting usually ends up looking crap on the majority of monitors due to causing a reverse ghosting effect. That first picture of the game looks terrible, but could the camera be making it look worse? You could try a replacement first and see how it goes... That what I'd usually do. I gave BenQ 3 chances before giving up on them and switching to LG (which is great).

Assuming you’ve been offered a refund (same pics/video on another forum, posted 24th March, post states refund was offered).

I’d accept the refund and buy something else.

I've been offered a refund, but just recently and with a tone.

"The problem is on your end."

I'm going to accept it and buy another brand.

People add the extra for a gaming monitor to avoid this kind of nonsense.

Agreed, you shouldn’t need to go through hassle. Unfortunately there are issues with so many things these days, just look through the Samsung G9 thread.

Personally, I used to like Viewsonic monitors, but that was way back when they used to be really good.

Good luck with your next choice. I’d be buying it from somewhere else.
