Very 1st build

The i3s are a bit of a waste of money now. They require a board that is EOL, they're beaten in most things by the APUs, and some recent games (e.g. Crysis 3, Far Cry 3) are unplayable even with a GTX 780.

An exception is if you want a fairly cheap PC to play World of Warcraft, they're great for that.
 
I would agree that a budget build would be better off with an AMD. If you can stretch to a 120gb SSD and a storage drive then your PC will feel fast no matter what CPU you have (doing the things you said in your first post that is).
 
I am struggling with my case fans, they have molex connectors and there is a fan speed controller for either fan on the front of the case

Now there a set of these on either fan.
