Very disappointed

could get an xps 15 system with gt 525 in for that newish or less on the dell outlet

or for £499

new Acer Aspire 5750G LX.RMX02.042, 2413G64Mnkk, Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Dual Core Processor, 15.6" HD Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit, 3GB RAM, 640GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Dedicated GT 540M Graphics

it is an acer will probably break at some point lol but that is some spec for the money and the 57xx series are nicely built.

mrk, thanks, I'll check it out.
Meanwhile, I got a reply back from the guy who was selling at £459.99!

He says "Hi, I've got an offer for £420 inc delivery and I'm probably going to go for it unless you can top it. Let me know by this evening please.

Many thanks"

So, you said I should have bought it, so shall I offer £425?

edit: wait. I'm looking for the acer 5750G you mentioned. Havent found it just yet, but I found another Acer Aspire 5750G i5 15.6" 500GB HDD 4GB Ram HDMI GT 540M brand new for £474.99 or best offer.

Brand new! That's very tempting. Oh yeah, now I see, I found the one you mentioned. £486.97.

yea, ignoring the non rated sellers seems about right, make sure it is a trused source.

nothing going to beat the acer on spec, and you will have the option of buying the 3 year warranty inc accidental damage cover for £50 from quite a few places.

Yeah. That acer gives me time to make him offers as his listing is for 26 days. Being brand new, hdmi too, better gfx and good warranty does kind of p*** over the vostro a bit. Shame it doesn't have a backlit keyboard like the vostro, but hey :p

Moderator of the acer specific forum on notebookreview just told me "According to a review made by notebookcheck Acer 5750G has a poor cooling system and it's also affected by throttling issues so I'd steer clear of it."

So, that's a pity. I've just offered £425 for the vostro. Waiting to hear if it's accepted or sold already.

tbh i would have just bid on it and bought it there and then. As mrk says, theres a reason it hasn't sold, but thats nothing to do with price, more that it was 4pm in the afternoon and thats one of the few products people are going to bid on whilst at work. Things like phones, laptops and tablets sell much better ending in the evening or at weekends so it's more than likely it just went unnoticed.
