Very Helpfull Solution Please ?

As you've had it that long then you won't be able to return it unless the seller has a very generous returns policy.

I believe you can only SLI with another 780 Ti.

I think 6GB versions will be available in the future but you wouldn't be able to SLI with one of those as the cards need to have the same amount of VRAM.

Just to check is your motherboard SLI compatible?

What's the spec. of your system?

Windows 7, Home Premium 64 Bit

Intel Core TM 2 Extreme CPU X9650 , 3.00GHZ, Memory 8192MB RAM, Direct X 11, Nividia Gefroce GTX 780TI - Single one of those for now, Monitor 2560x1440 (32bit) (59Hz) :)

It looks like you've gone to bed.

I'll throw this out there for consideration when you come back:

  • A lot of Socket 775 motherboards weren't SLI compatible so you need to check what you have.
  • Even if your motherboard is SLI compatible I doubt your system has the horsepower for 780 Ti SLI.
  • A single 780Ti isn't going to give amazing performance at 3,840x2,160 resolution. Some will run fine but you'll be struggling in others.
  • Given the above it may be best to stick to your 2,560x1440 monitor until you can do a big system upgrade.

I've just come back to answer your post, I was playing an PS4 Game. I can talk to the local (mandm) computer repair/modify people who live locally, I'll see what they think I should do, before I get the second 780ti for the SLI, though thanks for replying :)

You'll get at least as good, if not better, advice here than from "the local (mandm) computer repair/modify people".

Tell us what your motherboard is and that'll determine if SLI is a non-starter or at least technically possible.

If it's possible then it comes down to you almost certainly not having enough processor power to take full advantage of SLI and we then have to consider matters such as your power supply.

Here you are mate, MAX TDP 130, Socket 775LGA

core voltage 1.216v, core speed 3005.42mhz, Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650

Motherboard Manu - Asustek computer inc

Model Rampage Formula

Chipset Intel x48

PCI-Express

You walk into a computer repair shop asking this type advice. They will just see ££££ and use you for money.
Never trust them. Here is the number one advice you get, deep from gamers.

I need the manufacturer and model of the motherboard. e.g Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3.

If you're struggling to find it then download CPU-Z (clicky) and have a look on the mainboard tab.

If I am at my folks tomorrow afternoon, I will run some tests. I don't have a 4K display, but I can downsample that custom res which will give the same performance as a native 4K display.

I can run the tests single card and/ or SLI if you require.

I have the following benchmark tools:

3DMark
Heaven 4

and some games with built in benchmarking tools. Arkham Origins, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, Mafia 2, Tomb Raider to name a few. Obviously the results wont be exactly what you can expect, given the different CPU etc, but will be close enough for you to get an idea.

For what it is worth, I wouldn't even consider running 4K on my 2 Ti's as I feel VRAM would probably be an issue at that res.

It says manufacturer - Asustek computer inc
Model - Rampage formula Rev 1.xx
chipset intel x48
Southbridge intel 82801IR (ICH9R)
lPCIO Winbond W83627dhg

It's a waste to pair a 780ti with Qx9650.

I would know I had one. Even it was a bottleneck for a single 670.

---

4k isnt ready yet for gamers. I would put the money towards a new rig (cpu, ram, gpu etc) and pass on the dream of 4k for the moment, as you wont have the horsepower to drive it any way.

If this is your mobo - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_FORMULA/specifications/

... then unfortunately it looks like it doesn't support SLI. It does support AMD CrossfireX which is just AMD's version of SLI, but you wont be able to run 2 Nvidia cards in SLI (unless there is some hack that I am unfamiliar with)

I might get the 4k Samsung Monitor, then find out if it can handle 4k on my older and current pc games, then depending on what it's like, then I'll look into other options ;)

I really think this is the best advice if you want the best gaming experience without a massive upgrade.

You're not going to be able to run 4k properly so it would seem a waste of the screen for gaming.

I suppose I might put the money on standby for something else then like an 4k lg tv ;)
