Recently got a nice 250gb 7200.10 for my new rig, and I must say I'm extremely impressed with it. After I screwed it in with the rubber grommets that came with my case I can barely hear it, and it seems to be so fast as well! I came from an old, slow, 40gb IDE drive, so a nice zippy SATA one would probably have made an impression on me anyway, but wow! Installations go much more smoothly, and things like quicksaves in Oblivion now operate so seamlessly that I wouldn't notice if it wasn't for the text notification. Compared to my old drive, where the game would stutter for 2-3 seconds when I hit quicksave it's lovely. Really smoothed out a lot of hiccups and makes the computer feel really slick.

It might sound a bit odd, but out of all my new bits in my rig, I think I like the hard disk best! Having so much more space to play with is brilliant but I really love the speed of it as well. :) Highly recommended!

Was tying to choose between these and the WD's, actually.

The other great thing about these Seagate drives is the 5-year warranty. That combined with the perpendiular bit recording technology means I'd go for a 7200.10 any day!

My 250gb one can't be heard unless I get a large file transfer running and stick my ear against the case! It's lovely and quiet, the fans in the system drown it out tbh. I guess those little rubber grommet thingys really do work. :)

just got my 320Gb 7200.10 today...just a quick question..did u guys notice a "whitish" liquidity substance at the bottom of the drive...whats that all about..sorry for the noob question.. i dont have any experience with Sata drives...
cheers!

Yep, mine had that too. I've no idea what it is but I presume it provides some function. Is it glue or something?

A couple of weeks down the line after having started this thread, and I'm still impressed with the HDD's performance. Pleased as punch!
