Very seamingly random problem, PLEASe help me!

Yeah, it is easy on my Asus. Just install a program, pick the BIOS file and let it do it. Some say don't use these and to do it another way (not sure how!) but I've never had a problem.

Do you still have your 570 to try? If that still works in one slot then it's definately new card related. Maybe Mobo BIOS needs an update, definately worth checking that first. What's your power supply? Sounds like the graphics card is working fine, I doubt the card itself would cause this problem. If old GC works fine then it's not the Mobo either unless it's just not supporting it, hence in that case the latest bios should work.

Nah I sold it to my mate, I know that it worked fine, as I put it back in several times when I initially had trouble getting the 7970 to work in slot 1. Power supply is ocz 650w Zs series. It can't be the power supply because when I switch slots and it works everything is fine, battlefield etc for long periods of time. How easy is it to flash an Msi board? And have u got any tips?

Still not working, still get no signal until I swap the pci express ports. I have updated the bios to the latest version.

Surely it can't be the 7970? Because it works 100% fine when I switch the slots.

Everything was also 100% fine with my gtx 570, this never happened.

Could it be old geforce drivers doing this? Or does it sound like the card?

Thing is, if I rma, and they try it in one of their motherboards and it comes on 1st time, will they see no problem?

Never done an rma before.

I have a similar problem.

When the pc is turned on, all the fans will spin up, however there is no booting up, no mobo beep, no lights on the keyboard, and sometimes the gfx card fan spins up to 100%.

If I then turn it fully off, then back on again, works fine.

similar problem, I've yet to find a solution to it.

I thought the mobo bios update might have helped too :(

If you can't even see the post screen or get into the bios without swapping the slots over.....i doubt it's the nvidia drivers.

I'd try it in your mates rig. Sods law you will send it off RMA and when they test it, they won't find a problem and just ship it back :(

If it's flaky in his machine too then definately RMA it bud

@ brookert, what do you mean fully power down.

And also it seems to be sapphire cards :/. Trust me to pick the ones that can do this, i chose sapphire because i thought it was one of the best ati brands.

Also brookert, before your 5770, by any chance did u have a geforce card? and have u tried a full format?

not a geforce card, this problem was triggered by a new mono I reckon.

When it doesn't boot, I hold down the power button till the pc fully shuts off, then when I hit the button again, it works.

Pressing the reset button does the same thing.

Also If I turn off the power supply, then turn it back on, the pc will boot 100% of the time.

It seems i have to change the pci slot before it decides to work.

Im starting to think its the card, because my 570 never ever did this.

And now the 7970 is installed it is, i dont get it.
