The situation is I've just installed an X2 4200 to replace my Athlon64 3700. On booting Vista for the first time with the new CPU, all is well, except that it has suddenly decided it doesn't want to recognise my network card any more. It is asking for drivers (even though it was working before I installed the CPU!). And what is more, when I give it the correct drivers, it doesn't want to know. It just won't install them.
I have XP on dual boot, and the issue is repeated there as well.
The network card is an onboard device, 'Marvell Gigabit LAN', part of their Yukon series. The only way I can get the issue to resolve is if I insert a PCI network card and boot up. The freshly inserted PCI network card will now display the driver issue, whereas the onboard device will operate perfectly!
