VERY worried my cpu temps are too high, can't work out what's causing it

i have 1 fan at the front, 1 fan at the rear and one on the side panel which faces my graphics card/ and sits just below the fenrir. i can't fit a 2nd one in the side panel as the fenrir gets in the way. i can fit another 2 on the top of the case, dunno if this will make any difference though.

i still don't understand why my idle temps vary so much, iv left my comp on for past hour doing nothing and the idle temp has ranged from 42-56 !!!! what is that about ??

ok cool

can anyone tell me what TMPIN0 means in HWmonitor ? i just noticed it peaked at 95 degrees !!!! TMPIN1 and TMPIN2 both peaked around 45

surely 95 is not good ?

just found this actually

TMPIN0 is the inside temperature in your computer.
TMPIN1 is the outside temperature of your computer.
TMPIN2 is the temperature of your CPU.

95 inside my computer !!! i noticed this a few times actually but didnt think anything of it. can't believe it peaked that high just from being idle, at the moment its only 36 though !?!?!

i wish i had never installed this hw monitor program lol, makes me worry too much

I don't trust any temperature programs other than RealTemp and CoreTemp. The best test for your system temperature are your fingers in my opinion. There is no way your system is 95c inside, because if it was, it would burn you if you touched it.

If stuff is too hot to touch for more than a few seconds, it's a little too warm, but nothing dangerous.

Which way is the one in your side panel blowing

its blowing this way [so outwards... correct ?]

Relax - those temps are fine :) They're not the best, but nowhere near high enough to damage anything. If your CPU does go beyond its temp limits it'll just shut itself down anyway - modern CPUs are pretty intelligent like that. Enjoy your system!

Hi

As others have said 62 is perfectly fine, that's a cm690 by the look of it (nice case I had one for a while) so can take 2 120mm fans in the roof so you could try adding one up there might make a difference, other wise don't worry,:)

Edit: just read last post yep something is wrong if its idling at 52-55 try reseating it again with a little less paste than that article say try half the size strips than as pictured.

Hi sorry to take the thread OT a bit but I have exactly the same bundle from OCUK, and have a bit of a problem you may be able to help with.

To cut a long story short I was very stupid and did not write down the BIOS settings before trying to tweak them a bit, and have lost them all when I had to reset the BIOS.

So can you please give me a full list of all the CPU & Memory BIOS settings that this bundle comes setup with from OCUK.

Thanks in advance from a very embarrased chap. :o

P.S. My temps were idle 37-43 (depending upon room temp at the time)
Prime95 peak 68.
Now it is running stock 3.2 ghz, idle is 30 ish and peak is never over 45. So I would say your temps seem fine to me.

Leave the case window open for a while - if your temps drop dramatically then obviously you have a case cooling issue. If you post soem images of your case cooling then perhaps we can advise :)

temps stay more or less the same with the case on and off

comp seems to constantly stay idle around 50 nowadays, peaks as high as 69 when playing arma 2 !!!

there are pics of the cooling in the first place

fan at front, fan at rear and a fan on the side panel, all facing the correct direction

Hi Blurgh,

I am very much in the same boat as you after purchasing the ocuk 955 bundle. My temps are the same, and worry its very high.

Update: Just tried running prime95 and after 6 tests the core temp gets to about 70 and then reboots. I am not sure what to do next?

OK, well that's clearly not stable. Post in the customer services section and someone from the staff will sort you out.
