Video Card problem

Recently I've had a problem with my monitor starting up when my computer boots. My video card doesn’t want to transmit anything to my monitor. I’ve also noticed that when I boot the beeps at the start sound different. I get one long beep and two short beeps. Something I’ve never heard before today. I’ve looked this up on google and it says it’s a video card problem. I’ve now taken it out and everything works again and the monitor switches on as normal.

So basically is my Video card faulty? It’s a BFG 6800 AGP bought from overclockers a month ago.

Does anybody know a way to fix my problem or shall I RMA it asap.

Suggestions welcome, thanks.

Have you tried it another machine, have you tried reseating it in your's, when you say you took the card out and its working now, is that with another card in there, or is it with onboard gfx, if its onboard you could try another card in there to make sure its not the board, but if your card doesn't work in another machine then it'll need RMAing. :)

When I said I took the card out and it’s working now I meant I am using onboard gfx. I have tried reseating the 6800gs again and it never worked, one long beep, two short beeps and no reaction from my monitor.

I have tried what you suggested and placed my 9800pro card in there and the computer boots up fine with no problems.

I don't have another computer to test my 6800gs with unless it can fit inside a iMac? So that's not possible I don't think.

As I said before I'm using the 9800pro card at the moment and its working fine.

Time for a RMA you think?

Ok thanks for the help.

Now whats the quickest turn around for getting a replacement. Straight from BFG or overclockers? I'm sure the card was purchased within the last 28 days.

Overclockers probably, be about 5-7 days id have thought, but im sure someone will let you know who's had an RMA done, mind u a mate of mine was quoted 5-7 days on his faulty motherboard from here. :)
