My x2 3800 at stock didn't cut the mustard with a 7800 GT never mind a 7900 GT.
However when I overclocked it to 2.6ghz the 7800 GT performed as it should.
In the oblivion thread in the game section people have been complaining that they are getting low FPS with their 7900's and x1900's and they don't know why.
Reason their 2ghz A64's are bottlenecking.

7900Gt owners should aquire a good board, psu, cpu (AMD 64 4 gig is nice) and plenry of ram (2gig) and all should be swell (i concur with easyrider). Ive a 3500 venice chip in my asus a8n premium board, and a 4 gig san deigo in my asus a8n deluxe. The 3500 chip at stock (2200ghz) did suffer a little, but when overclocked to 2530 was fine. The 4gig (2400ghz) was fine at stock. As for intels, well i cant say, dont really use um but a 3.2 gigger should be ok if your an intel boy !
