Video editing for fun and job.

Hi. I want to start learning video editing but if you have no videos to edit and learn from how would I go about it?. I was going to get Sony Movie Studio HD: Platinum Suite 12 which is only £27,99. I want to do it for fun now but learn it so i can start small in my area. I currently don't work so I am looking to look for something to do at home and got lot of time to learn and think video editing sounds interesting to do for fun now and if get good enough look for jobs in my area or start very small on my own. .

Find a "cheap" (wink wink) copy of Sony Vegas, half of Youtube is tutorials from squeakers showing you how to make quickscope montages. Sounds silly but these kids taught me loads.

Ha, as funny as it is... I learnt loads editing "gaming montages" and the likes as you use a lot of features you might not find normally. Simple tutorials like Youtube Introductions can also be quite helpful as you can play with text as well, which helps with editing.

What type of video editing would you like to do? Or would you like to just play with video files for now? A quick day trip out to town with a camera can get your 2-3 hours of footage, be slightly artsy and then see what you can do with the clips!

I would like to just play with video files for now and move up. I don't (wink wink) hehe. So bought it this morning for £27,99 which is same version but you also includes sound forge audio studio 10. Cant wait to start learning.

Don't forget to buy one of those keyboards with the funny-coloured keys so that you look like a pro.

hitfilm 3 does a free version with 'add ons'...
There's also BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve 11 Lite

I got it this morning and will start some time soon. I opened up the box and to my surprise there is some old skool 3d glasses in it them red and blue. Tested on youtube vids and some images and it works.
