Hey,

I'm looking to buy some software, and although I'm aware of the well known Sony Vegas / Adobe Premiere, I was wondering if there are other good products which aren't quite so expensive. Money isn't an issue, but if I can get something as good as the above without paying through the nose for it, then all the better.

TIA. :)

You don't need the full blown Sony Vegas package btw, you can get the cut down version which does everything a home user would need far, far cheaper.

Cyberlink Powerdirector 13 is the most user friendly out of all the editing suites and its also the fastest to produce with. I'd highly recommend that if you want something quick and easy to use which is also ram packed full of cutting edge features should you want to use them.

I seem to recall you mentioning this one the other day in another thread. I'll take a look.

only problem with he lightworks is the free version only lets you upload at 720hd.

you need the paid version for higher resolutions.

I use TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 6 which has a easy mode/normal mode or timeline mode which all the tools are available and found it easy to use but it does cost about £80 but there is a free trial that can be used.
Best thing yet it doesn't crash on me on some of my longer videos like Vega's did but that was a few years ago.

I haven't seen it for that price. Got a link, Dg?

Edit : Ah, is it this one?

Movie Studio Platinum has more and is a good mid-way between them for about 50 quid.

I'd recommend checking out some youtube clips for comparison between cyberlink, vegas etc to see which you think will best suit you. I've had bad experiences in the past with Cyberlink support issues which is why I've stuck to Sony recently. That's a personal experience though and I've no doubt they've improved but I just can't bring myself to throw money at them again just yet!

Thanks, Halfmad.

I did use a free trial of vegas a while back, and quite liked it. Tbh, all of the above look pretty daunting when basically all I've been used to is windows movie maker. :D
