Video Editing Software.

Hey,

I'm looking to buy some software, and although I'm aware of the well known Sony Vegas / Adobe Premiere, I was wondering if there are other good products which aren't quite so expensive. Money isn't an issue, but if I can get something as good as the above without paying through the nose for it, then all the better.

TIA. :)

depends on your style, what editing are you wanting to do. Just cut and paste work, or adding effects like gunshots etc.

for VFX you will want the likes of adobe after effects or if you know how to use nodal based editing software then I recommend nuke, you can give it a free trial. Word of warning with nuke though if you want to edit your videos you will need to convert them to image sequences first unless ay of the latest updates have fixed that.

Making an intro, along with greater flexibility and options for better quality play throughs.

Sounds pretty heavy, and probably beyond what I need right now, but you never know several years down the line. Thanks. :)

I've heard that adobe is great for less rushed, more polished videos, where as vegas is suited to faster but still decent quality production. No idea if that's true or not.

In fact davinci was better known for its grading capabilities and only on the last few version there added editing. the fact that is free is mind bending :D

+1 vote for Sony Movie Studio, it's a cut down Vegas but it's stuff like you can't have 400 audio tracks, just 12. Seriously? Game audio, voiceover and maybe teamspeak. How many tracks do you need?

Movie studio is a nice program to use and there are a lot of youtube tutorials that crossover with full blown Vegas so there is a lot of user support out there.
