Video Encoding... HELP :(

I used to use Dr Divx, but since i reinstalled after my latest build, it keeps giving errors

(ie the video crashes any media player i try)

I update to the latest DivX (6.4) and it came with the included converter (replacement to the Dr) and it does everything i need (BUT outputs to a .DIVX file

)

I am ripping DVDs with DVD decryptor, then encoding them to my MCE rig

I need sometihng that can :

Encode Vob1_1 , 1_2 etc into 1 video file (for DVD rips)

Ideally it will also encode a 2 part film into 1 single .avi too

Media must be playable on MCE (extra codecs etc no problem - so long as its a specific)

just rename it .avi, they're the same as normal divx avi files

one more thing...

the divx converter can join .avi files, but it makes a menu thing... any way to remove that menu, and just have the .divx (.avi) file ?

Use VirtualDub to join .avi's

tried Virtualdub, but it had a TON of stuff to do when joining them

if you can give a quick few steps to join videos in vdub id be very grateful

assume the bitrates arent identical - as this is where the lots of steps comes in i think
