We are going to install a video entry system in our new property and were thinking of going for something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-LCD-Tou...Intercom-4-Monitor-2-Cam-5WC8E1-/190879206067

It won't open the doors, but just allow the front door to be viewed from every floor and the kitchen. It will also serve as a doorbell.

My question is, we already have the wiring all coming to a central point, from where every device will be (we have used CAT6 cables). Is it possible to power the devices using the same CAT6, because each one needs DC power. If so, how would I go about doing this?

Is the Cat 6 used for anything else.

Ask them for a link to the manual for the video entry system, & advice on your intended setup.

I would have also looked at wireless video entry system.

eBay, cat power injector.

Shame not to use the unlock feature though.

We may use the unlock feature for the front gate, but not for the main door.

Could I not use my PoE switch for that?

Email sent to them :)

The CAT6 is purely as a substitute for their wiring, and I was hoping to push the power through that as well rather than having plug points by all 4 monitor systems.
