Video Player software

I'm looking for some video editing software so that I can edit mpegs and such. I find windows movie maker doesnt have the features I'm looking for.

I want to be able to slow edits up and down and be able to edit the sound when previewing.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

You could download the trial of Sony Vegas? I used that and it is a very good piece of software

I use Ulead videostudio and have done since version 7. Its pretty good at what it does, though check their support forums as i'm always having trouble with audio sync and mpeg video.

Virutal dub is a good editing program.
