Ive struggled with getting the setting right on sunsets, think I'm getting it better now :)

GO FOR IT I CAN TAKE IT!!!

1. Seems a touch under exposed and i'll can't find a point of interest. Just seems like a bokeh shot for the sake of it.
2. I like but your horizon is off, fix that and very nice.
3. Need lens correction to stop the slight pin cushion effect then very nice.
4. Works for me :)

1) I don't really know what the main subject it, there is nothing drawing my attention.
I think you wanted just to photograph the toys/clothes but the angle means most of the photo is out of focus, therefore I am supposed to be concentrating on the in focus area, but there isn't a subject. I think the photo would have worked better taking it parallel to the display so the whole lot is in focus, or alternatively getting in closer and fidning a particular subject to focus on.

2) The foreground/beach is just too dark for me and the composition is poor. The Horizon line is slap bang in the middle so bothe the foreground and sky are given equal wieghting but I don't think this photos wants that kind of compositon. Placing the horizon in the middle works well when you want to emphasize symmetry, for eample a reflection in a lake. As it is in this photo i don't knwo what the main subject is supposed to be, is it the sky or the beach/sea. The latter is too dark so I think the sky is supposed to be the subject. IMO, cut off the bottom to have just a small amount of the beach and sea and change the aspect ratio to 2:1.

3) Excellent. See how putitng the water/foreground well to the bottom has emphasized the sky as the important subject and the sea is just for framing. This is a classic compositional technique (4/5th rule). The colours and lighting are very pleasing. I would try to remove the vignetting. I would also think about getting a tighter crop and removing some of the left hand edge and top of sky so that the silhouetted rocks in the background are more prominent and the great colours are enhanced. The left edge is a bit of a dead space. this will also help remove the symmetry, that big band of red-pink cloud/sky will get shifted off center which should make a more pleasing balance.

4) excellent again. Really nice colors. Compositionally this is the strongest for me, good useof leading lines of the edge of the boat drawing the viewing to the image center where the bright sun is, which will also draw focus. I would try to lift the shadows a bit of the boat but I think leaving the upper deck and men as silhouettes works well. I would also think of cropping a bit of the top of the sky away, again to balance the picture more.

Lots of potential in the last 2, rally like them as they are already but a few tweaks could bring the best of them out.

i totally agree with the first one, it really was just a photo for the sake of it.....

I've played around with the second 2, listening to the comments above. how do you think they are now??

The Boat work much better IMO. I can't think of a change I would want to o. The extar shadow detail helps make he leading lines more prominent.

With the second one I would have kept the right hand edge in the frame and remove the left edge. Your original had a silhouette cliff on the RHS that helps the image. I think cutting the left and keeping the right will help a lot.

Of the original first two, the first as the guys said just needs a focus point. If you were doing that exact shot again, try and get a toy sitting right there among them that you can easily identify the face, like the minion for example.

For number two, your horizon is indeed off, by 0.9 degrees. I'd say crop the bottom 1/5th off and bring the shadows up a bit. Also, the points of light in the sky are annoying me. I'm guessing at least 2 are stars, but they just look weird with no others around them.

3 and 4 you've already sorted :)

Excellent. Slightly too dark but I think the composition work very well to me.
That is just my opinion but I light the sun rays slightly off to the bottom left corner and pointing out over the frame. the cliff on the right adds balance to the sun rays on the left and by cropping inwards the interesting sky and colours are enhanced. the sun rays act like leading lines drawing ones attention to the horizon where the viewer gets treated to all the colors and the interest of the distance islands.

At least, that is how I view the photo and how I would hope others would view it. This kind of analysis I try to apply to all landscape work. How will the viewer observe the image, what will get their attention, are there any lines or curves that will guide them somewhere interesting. Is there dead space, is there balance.
