view what programs are accessing the hard drive

Is there anyway to find out what programs etc are currently accessing the harddrive.

For some reason, my pc all of a sudden goes nuts accessing the drive, another problem is after using firefox, and closing it, the drive goes nuts.

Just wondering what could be causing it - (its doing it now going crazy accessing the drive).

I had a program ages ago that used to show what programs were accesing the drive etc but cant rememer what program it was.

just had a try but it dosent list the programs currently accesing the drive.

Im sure i had one one where it showed what programs were accessing the drive, and could be sorted by the ones with the highest usage etc (like task manager where you can list buy whats using the most CPU or Mem usage etc.

What OS are you running btw? I think Vista has something like this built in. Reliability and Performance Monitor.
