Afternoon all,

was reading another thread on here about job satisfaction, and it got me to thinking...how long do people think its healthy to stay in a job?

I'v been in my current job at one of the banks in the City for around 5 months now, came here straight out of uni (ive just turned 23) and although Im enjoying my time here, and can see plenty of areas for progression, I cant help but wonder sometimes if I should have gone in for a grad scheme or similar to get a bit more exposure to different roles.

I guess its natural to think the grass is greener, but what do people think? Anyone chopped and changed a lot in their career?

Depends on the job type, but for the first job I would say at least 12 months - perhaps 2 years. If you change every 2 months or something it is hardly going to make you look very stable to a perspective employer is it?

totally agree, wasnt suggesting that I wanted to leave my current job, was just wondering what other peoples experiences had been, how long they'd been in jobs, people who'd had lots of different experience etc :)

Im hoping to stick in this job and make at least a couple of years out of it, it just makes you wonder when you see friends who are on say a grad scheme getting to try out 3 or 4 different roles.
