Hi

I was just about to place an order for one of these when I had a look at the Viewsonic website in the US.

On the website, the VP930 is listed as VP930b, this is not mentioned anywhere in the UK website.

Anyone know if the VP930b is a replacement for the VP930, and if yes, when is it likely to be release over here in the UK.

I hate to buy it now, only to have the 930b release in the UK 2 weeks later.....

Cheers

I`m just about to order (would be ocuk but they stopped stocking 2/3 weeks back) and im unsure about this aswell. From looking at the website it doesnt seem that this model is any different to the one being sold in shops. But the fact that ocuk stopped selling the vp930 might indicate some change in the lineup.

im looking at getting one of these for my birthday which is next week so i wouldnt mind knowing either

VP930'B' is just the black version, not sold in europe sadly because it looks nicer. We get the silver bezel instead. Same monitor other than the colour of paint used.

either of you guys play CS:S? if you do could you give it a quick whirl and tell me if theres any ghosting cheers

I get very noticeable ghosting on my VP930 ... I came from a Hercules Prophetview 920 ProDVI 17" TFT with 20ms response and a HyDis panel.

I don't get any ghosting on the Hercules, but the colours and image quality on the VP930 is stunning.

I'm more of a WoW, FFXI, GuildWar kinda guy :D

I tend to only see ghosting in CS:S ... I don't see it in any of my other games, I should have mentioned that :) And I play Eve-online extensively

hmmm thats a bit of a kick in the proverbials then cus CS:S is all i play, may have to go with the HANNS G as ive not heard anything about ghosting with them, but then again id rarther have the known brand

Woohoo, mine just arrived and it's superb except for one tiny problem. I've got one dead pixel, it's about half inch up and one inch in from the bottom right hand side of the panel... and it's gray :(

Is it worth sending it back for a replacement or should I just forget about it, I'm thinking leave it.

What do you guys think?

Mine is coming saturday so i`m hoping i dont get any dead pixels.

TBH it depends on whether you will be annoyed by it. The downstairs PC has 1 green pixel and it annoys me loads. IIRC you can get it replaced by viewsonic for having the defect, so may be worth it.

Might be worth playing some fast paced DVD scenes (E.g. chase scene from Matrix Reloaded) to see if you can tease it back round..

Failing that give it a gentle rub with a cloth, and it might help you out.. I fixed 3 pixels like this before! :)

Just played some CS (normal, not source). Personally i didnt notice any ghosting at all. If ghosting is bits of the image lagging behind i didnt see any. More than possible that im just not noticing it, but so far i havent noticed any artifacts or problems. I forgot i was playing on a LCD TBH. I`ll try some source to see if its worse (though my PC cant run source very well, so it may not be a fair test).

EDIT - anyone else noticed off-black bars at the top and bottom of watching DVD's and videos? Is there a way to reduce this or is it because of the monitors settings?

EDIT2 - D/Ling CS source now. Just played some HL2 - there is some ghosting (if that is the slightly lag between some textures when you view changes), but im not sure how much is due to playing on a GF4 with no AA..etc and low options for everything and how much is the monitor. For me its not that noticable though, so it may be worth trying to have a look at someone who has one.

DVDs were great though, just watched some action bits from blade 2, batman begins and Matrix reloaded.
