Some time ago back in March I had an issue with my VX2025 which is outlined in this thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17699436

just to recap: I had an issue with the DVI port not working which seems to be an issue with this unit.

Since reporting the issue I have now had 4 replacement monitors since March and the recent replacement that I got is slanted (again).

Now when I reported this problem to viewsonic they obviously are concerned at this as I would now be expecting my 5th replacement in a matter of 3/4 months which obviously is no good.

So like others have done I have asked for a replacement monitor of equivelant spec but Viewsonic will just simply not budge on this.

Now the current monitor they are refusing to exchange as they think the issue can be resolved by sending me out a new base which may/may not work but this is now getting beyond a joke.

I have always held Viewsonic in such high regard to both their technical build and CS. Now their CS has been fantastic up until now and trying to get any further info out of them about what happens if this doesn't work is nigh on impossible.

So where do I stand do I just wait for this base unit hope this resolves my issue and see if my monitor lasts more than a month or do I now take this higher to someone like trading standards as surely this monitor is not fit for purpose given the unit is still under a year old.

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues like this with them as it seems a bit off that they will dispense upgrades to some people and not others.

Now I can only speak from my own experience but Viewsonic have now lost a future customer if this is the attitude they have.

Sorry for the rant but I feel that this must be said.

So as I said where do I stand now?

I think I may just cut my loses and sell this monitor and get one that will last longer than a month at a time.

well have heard back from VS's customer service department and they have offered me a brand new VP2130B as a replacement.

Would this be considered a good replacement?

I know the size is slightly bigger at 21.3 inches and the reviews I have read seem to rate it in very high praise but is there any sort of known issues with this model?

How are other users finding it?

just an update:

After viewsonic offered me the replacement monitor I have barely heard from them and their head office and CS department must be on another planet as they never know whats happening between them.

Anyway they haven't offered me the 23" as I expected and have given me the choice of another 2025 which would be checked and double checked or the brand new VP2130b. I have gone for the VP2130b as i hope this will be a better monitor. Although its not widescreen I think I may just sell it on and see if I can get a 24"dell or something similar. Unfortunately with the prices of 22" screens now sub £200 I don't think I will get much for it even though it is still retailing at £400+ at other etailers.

Also just wondering why OcUK are no longer stocking viewsonic monitors is it just a case that viewsonic has gone bad or just not offering the units at a price that OcUK like.

Well it looks like viewsonic have lost my interest as I can't be bothered going through this hassle again especially for a piece of kit that you would hope would last longer than most of my system components.

I had the same DVI troubles with three of the monitors over the space of 8 months. Obviously bad manufacturing process.

The last one took nearly 3 months to replace because the swap-out driver didn't call me as indicated, didn't leave a calling card and returned to sender the same day as the failed delivery! Bloody parceline! Then it got lost in their warehouse somewhere so they had no idea wtf was going on.... finally had a swap out back in january... they told me to put the cables with it this time, so I did.

The swapped out monitor came in a plain brown box... no retail package + a little bit of foam padding.

The base was wonky! The monitor was sitting at about 25 degrees off the horizontal! And guess what - there were no cables either!

So had to go back to them - thankfully this swap out was much quicker - only took them 3 weeks.... still no cables. I ended up selling the monitor with a spare dvi cable i had back in february. By this time I'd already bought a dell wfp3007 back in november.

The cables finally turned up 2 weeks ago. How ******g useless!

Hmm interesting, so viewsonic are a bit dodgy then?

I have a ViewSonic VP201b which I bought from OCuK along time ago and its very faulty... but I never got round to replacing it cos I got my Dell 2407 a little while after.

My ViewSonic monitor wont come on all the time in DVI mode, sometimes I have to reboot my PC 4 - 5 times to get a pictures, and this means holding down the power buttons for 4 secs to turn it off cos the screen is black and I cannot see the shut down button.

The VGA is also faulty, as it shows colours all wrong, light greys are green for example. I don't really use it anymore, but its deffo faulty and I would NEVER get a viewsonic again, so I dont blame OCuK for not stocking them anymore!

it's a shame as I said I have always liked viewsonic monitors.

But they just don't seem to care too much about sorting customers problems. I'm just happy I will be having a brand new monitor tomorrow.

I think next time I will buy either a Samsung or a Dell

well finally have my hands on my new VP2130b monitor and it feels simply massive compared the 2025wm. Hopefully this one will last the distance.

as many of the reviews state it is extremely bright and colour do look move vibrant but maybe that is just me looking into this a bit more closely for faults.

Can't wait to get it home and play some games on it and see how it fairs.

Although it is not widescreen which I can tell This will make an excellent second monitor for when I eventually get another TFT. I think I may get either a 22" or a 24" all depends on the budget.

hope it works for ya mate, my first vx2025 developed a long vertical line of dead pixels, got onto the customer support number, 2 days later they sent me out a brand new 2025, and just picked up my old one im hoping it will keep going till i sell it so i can get a decent 24 hdmi/hdcp lcd monitor

its a shame as i really did like the 2025 but i just couldn't cope with all the swaps.

Now the 2130b has about a 1 - 2mm lean but its not noticable enough for me to call them back and get it swapped.

I'm now just picking faults simply because I am looking for them.

Here's some pics of the new monitor in action. it is simply massive compared to my other screen which is only a 15"
