It wouldn't be a surprise TBH. The budgets are so tight with these things that some corners have to be cut; but it's not consistent. The Optoma UHD300X does support "graphics at 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz". That requires the full 18Gbps bandwidth that HDMI 2.0 can supply. It's not clear from the spec list though if that means it's happy with gaming at that resolution.
In the case of the Viewsonic X10-4K things are less clear than that!
I haven't yet found a complete specification for the projector from Viewsonic's UK or US Web sites. It's impossible to be specific on what is does support (if anything) above UHD @ 30Hz

I am also on the hunt for a 4K projector but only for movies, no gaming.
The viewsonic I read on a French article that the imput lag at 4K is 133ms but could be reduced to around 68ms on gaming mode.
