Virgin Cable - Anyone else having problems?

Just tried updating Steam tonight and generally browsing/emailing and I can't!

Tried all the tips, reset router, reset cable modem, tried over wireless and cable and max speed from file downloads/speed tests is about 250Kb/s on a 20Mb connection.

Not had a problem like this before, probably got something to do with their broadband service having a red light on the service page I guess
 
Well it's improved to 45ikb/s download now :( bloody joke it really is, not for that fact that it's slow per se, they are probably having network issues (which granted isn't great in *** first place) but the fact they have NO customer support what so ever!

Been trying to get through to anyone today and not possible, there is no answer! And the service status? WTF all it says is "Unplug your modem, leave it for 2 minutes, this solves most problems" then cuts off, where exactly was the service status?!

In the last week according to my bandwidth monitor I have downloaded roughly 5gb in a week, it aggrevates me really, when I moved in here in the summer speeds were maxed out, then all the students moved in and wham the entire network crawls :( I can't wait for christmas for them all to go home.

All I want to be able to do is download a single 1.5gig file and watch some streaming videos, but can't even do that at the moment

must be something network going on perhaps? this is the slowest its been for me so far.

oh and that was scary, you have the same username as my dad :D

Where abouts is Rugeley Jabbs? I know that there was a problem beginning of November in manchester after a substation went out, it affected power and Virgins services, but this slowness has only started in the last week.

tracert is timing out on certain hops all NTL

its nothing to do with traffic shaping as i dont download much
i only surf thru daytime

Exactly the same here, I can only browse atm, cant play games or watch streaming videos on any site. looking at the logs I have downloaded 2.8Gb in thepast 24 hours :rolleyes: man I'm a real heavy downloader me.

2000ms pings, might as well browse with my iphone on edge, it would be quicker
