Virgin flying points

Virgin don't really do a first class. The Upper is comparable to BA's Business. Premium Economy is just that, not Business.

But BA are total swines so.

My Google Fu is weak.

Seems it's not that many then. 42,000 needed for a single to San Fran. I'll speak to virgin to see if I can use the points and pay the rest.

Thanks

Aye just call them and use the points towards your flight.

Even if you had enough points 'for a flight', you'll still need to pay taxes on that flight.

Either way, worth having.

I have 50k virgin miles and they are pretty useless tbh because you need a lot of them to do anything.

Using them for reward flights makes no sense because the surcharges are so high and you have to pay those with money. Upgrades are the best use but you need a fair few and the availability can be spotty.

One thing that did look interesting was using them on a return fare where you paid one leg with cash and one with miles. I looked into SF a while back and for a departure 3 weeks later it was about £2.1k economy return for 2 people cash or £1.1k and 35k miles each for a split fare.

I have accumulated over 300k VA miles in last 18 months with various card sign ups / usage and a few other bits

Have 2 x Upper Class flight to Hong Kong in Jan (upgrades) total cost £1700 and 120k miles, will prob use rest for Vegas later in year and then switch to saving Avios due to much better route choice
