Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone is clued up about this stuff, having a problem whereby the upstream/downsteam power keeps spiking.

I've had a total of about 6 or 7 engineer visits now, including managers & a network engineer. They seem to think theres something wrong with the cabinet as i'm the only person in it, and to add insult, all the other newly built houses on this street seem to be getting plugged into another cabinet round the corner.

Heres a brief log of my findings so far, and this is only what i've noticed and it has been happening since I moved in about 2 months ago.

Notes:
- Connectivity state vaires from: Access Denied, Not Synchronized and Upstream parameters aquired
- Upstream modulation changes from ADTMA to DTMA
- Downstream modulation changes from QAM64 to QAM256 and only opens one channel instead of four
- Blue heart icon on V Box HD always seems to flash during these outages too.

Also I can tell you that they have replaced almost everything equipment wise, swapped modem for a superhub, new internal cables, splitters and isolaters and they even changed a tap-plate in the cabinet (whatever that is).

The guy I'm speaking with is one of the managers whose going to come out and check all my equipment again on monday, though he said he passed the job to 'network' and hasn't heard anything back.

So, any advice?

Cheers

p.s. I am on the 20mb package if thats relevant.

58 on the upstream is too high / signal loss, hence the 'flashing blue heart' on your VBox (it's for talkback).

You're far better off posting this on cable-forum.co.uk mate, some very clever tech guys over there :)

Ask to be tried on the other cabinet round the corner, or at least get them to rewire you to the current cabinet with new coax.

I had this same problem. 20+ techs of all sorts and 3 months later it was fixed. In the end I had 5 new modems tried. They then Re wired me from the cabinet all the way to my modem (still didn't work) Changed the nodes in the cabinet (still didn't work) and the last thing they could do was change the amplifier between me and the cabinet and low and behold it worked. My problem started happening when they upgraded my area for this 100mb package they now offer. Seems they messed with my amplifier and never checked the signal afterwards. After about £150 of reimbursement I am happy to just have working internet. Been about 2 weeks no problems. Personally I would tell them to check the signal at the amplifier as they can turn it up or down to better suit you.

I think they may have already tried tinkering with that, as for the first week or so it was a lot worse and then they changed the tap plate and it didn't work so well, and they went back to the cabinet to "adjust power" or something.
