Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Oh right. The router and Tivo are in separate rooms so plugging it in isn't gonna happen.

If i click 'Watch Now' it just gives me an option to watch it on TV, not my device. And if i try and watch it on TV it just says im not on the same network.

Broadband service disruption in the Portsmouth PO9 postcode area and possibly others, phoned them earlier today due to Internet connection drop outs and they said a fault has been logged that's to be investigated tomorrow. Hopefully sorted too as I've been having connection problems all week at different times.

Dont want to start a new topic but getting seriously fed up of the TV side.

The tivo box is the biggest pile of poo imaginable, why does it use iplayer for the red button content? this function is flawed. The iplayer is slow, takes ages to load and the video it produces is terrible all jumpy and stops playing.

load of other rubbish, what a terrible box.

Gutted I moved from Sky, only saving grace is the 150 mb download! Internet speeds are top notch.

Finally have Virgin Media about to install on our new estate - due to be complete by middle of July for FTTH and still running a 1gb trial in our area, which I have asked to take part in. Not going to take phone or TV as would miss Sky too much but excited after waiting for BT to make a fibre cabinet live since November...

Yeah the box is utterly useless. I bought an Amazon FireTV because I simply find the Tivo box to completely unusable for Netflix, iplayer etc.

virgin media returns are a bloody nightmare

I've been waiting for two months for them to send the bag and labels out to send my tivo and superhub back. Twice they have apparently sent them and still nothing. I am sure they are sending them to my old address (moved out of virgin area, had no choice but to cancel) despite me explicitly stating both times that they need to be sent to my new address. This is all whilst they hound me over email, threatening to charge me for the equipement.

Oh, and as part of the termination they decided to defer the last payment (feb) till march to roll it up with the cancellation fees....which they then reported as a late payment, screwing with my credit rating in the process.

I am not happy with them at all at the moment. Dont get me wrong, i miss the tivo with its 3x tuners and the fibre broadband that's.....10x times faster than what i have now, but christ alive they wouldnt know customer service if it smashed them in the face with a 10lb lump hammer

Just got the tivo installed couple of questions as i did have one years ago and changed to sky. Is there a way now where you can change hdmi input via tivo remote ? also how do i turn my TV off properly via the remote and not the tivo box.. the standby message pops up all the time.

I am hoping that someone could help me with a few quick questions please?

I am looking at joining Virgin and getting the 50mb package. Can somebody tell me what the upload speed would be? I have spoken to Virgin and they are telling me 10% of download, but other places are saying 3mb.

If I was to be streaming on twitch, I think I might hit their traffic management threshold per hour, do any of you stream and are you hitting the hourly limits?

Last of all, they are saying that they throttle all peer to peer, whats people experience with this? Does it affect games that may use peer to peer instead of dedicated servers?

Thanks :)

Mine does seem to be a firefox issue, youtube working fine on chrome. Think im just about ready to ditch firefox now.
It’s only just started but it really is ****** me off. I have no idea how to fix it, might uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes it.

Just reset firefox and then synced it and its working again, click refresh firefox on here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

I have the 150Mbps and can only get 70Mbps... They say it's a high utilization issue in my area and should be fixed "soon".
