Virgin media rage..help?

Service hasnt been as good as it was this past couple of weeks, i get a max of 50mb at the moment and not 100.

But it will get better, it always does.

Here's another question then; is it worth paying the extra for 100mb over 60mb?

Objectively it's just the two of us, and we're not going to be flogging it all the time, so going for 100mb is w@nk factor as much as anything else. - If it's unlikely to achieve anything approaching the full speed, there's no point in paying for it.

How good are VM if you ring them and say "I'm not getting the service I'm paying for. Downgrade me to the cheaper one." - O2 were really good like that when I had a bad ADSL connection; they just downgraded me and said they couldn't achieve the speed I was paying for, so I should only be paying for the speed I could get.

Depends what and where you download from. If you download from places that will give you the max speed then it's worth it but personally i find most places only use around half of my speed and wouldn't be on it if it weren't for the 11mb ish upload. 60 is more than enough if higher upload isn't a concern tbh.

Depends on your area too. My connection is perfect 24/7 but many can't even reach 80mb never mind 100 or 120. You might even get stuck on 100/5 if unlucky with where you live.

VM performance greatly depends on the area. Where I live friends and family all had VM (slowest packs they offered) over the last 10 ish years and had great speeds etc while I was stuck just outside the city on a 1.5mbit adsl link. I've recently moved and went straight on VM's 100mb service. Love it. Had an issue with billing, but that was resolved with a credit to my account. Pretty much got the second month free.

Got 4 people in my house, 3 pc's 2 laptops 4 phones and a tablet, even the tv and bluray player connect. Often someone maxes out the link downloading demo's or updates. Had a mate round with his pc updating WoW, 8gb update, getting 12.2mb/s he sat there laughing.

Check the VM forums, search for the area you live. See what people are saying.

Personally, I recommend VM. My upgrade to 120mb is March, i'll see what happens to the service then.
