Virgin Media re-thinks throttling policy

seems like this is in effect now, just had my speeds jump up at 9pm.

Get home, at around 4:00, Start downloading a game patch, 150mb into it, Speed drops from 120kbs to >50kbs. Oh the joy.

NTL were great till VM came along.

I got throttled last night for downloading a game demo ,kind of p me off as its very rare I download much at all ,so the above statement is not so !

What made it even worse the download failed and I had to start again

150mb shouldnt mean you would hit the point where your speed gets reduced. Are you sure your not just jumping to conclusions? maybe it was the place you was downloading from that droped in speed.

AFAIK this only applies in peak times, 4pm-9pm, ive hit the limit a few times but hey i still get fairly good speeds even after being capped (Im on 20mbit).
